After selecting the item they require, the system unlocks the appropriate drawer and guides the user to it using a high intensity LED. The user opens the drawer, takes a quantity of items and places them into the piece counting enclosure which automatically displays the selected quantity on the screen.

When the user has obtained the required quantity, they simply shut the drawer which automatically relocks. The quantity placed within the piece counting enclosure is automatically logged and the stock levels adjusted accordingly.

In a similar process, items can also be counted automatically when restocking.
